Community Advisory Board - Ambassadors

The University of Utah Women’s Resource Center Community Advisory Board supports the overarching mission of the WRC by proactively implementing initiatives that encourage success in higher education.  With a primary focus on women, the Board invests in programs dedicated to creating community awareness of the WRC and its initiatives, building relationships for WRC participants through mentorship and connectivity, and advancing the idea of “paying it forward” to the next generation.

 Jennifer Stagg

Board Chair: 2017 - Present

Jennifer StaggJennifer Stagg is a veteran journalist, blogger, designer, wife, and mother.  As a television anchor and reporter, she was twice awarded Best Reporter in Utah by the Society of Professional Journalists.  She has won two Emmy awards as well as three Edward R. Murrow awards for excellence in reporting. Full Bio

Kimberly A. Hall

Board Vice-Chair: 2010 - Present

Kim Hall ImageKim Hall has been with the University of Utah for 15 years. First as adjunct faculty, and then 13 years with the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). Initially, Kim was the program coordinator, originating the Go Girlz Community Initiative and the Sponsored Student Program (U START) among other pieces of community and campus programming.  Full Bio

Courtney Brown

Allison Barlow

Courtney Brown is the CEO and Founder of Cents of Style, a multi-million dollar fashion accessories company based in Bluffdale, UT. With a vision of empowering women to live bold and full lives, Courtney believes in her company's mission to teach millions of women that when they look good, they feel good and then they have the power to do good.  As a mother, wife, and CEO, Courtney is living proof that women can reject the idea that they have to choose between any of those titles to lead an empowered and full life.    Full Bio

Becky Bruce Zani

Board Ambassador: 2017 - Present

Becky Bruce Zani ImageBecky Bruce Zani is a digital content producer at KSL Newsradio, and the proud mom of a 14-year-old son and two aggravating rescue dogs. Raised in Kentucky, she came to Utah from Virginia over Christmas 2007 in a minivan across the snow-covered plains, towing a trailer when she hit Parleys Canyon for the first time in a blizzard. Brad Herbert

Board Ambassador: 2016  - Present

Brad Herbert is currently the Senior Vice President and Group Marketing Manager for Zions Bank in Salt Lake City, Utah.  In this role, he oversees the team supporting Zions Bank’s digital and traditional marketing efforts.

Brad originally joined Zions Bank in 2006 working in the Diverse Markets group.  He was then promoted to Vice President and Emerging Market Manager in charge of Zions Bank’s Millennial generation focus.    Full Bio. 

Kelsey Koziar

Coming Soon ImageKelsey Lauren Koziar is a Business Development Manager at the law firm of Stoel Rives LLP, based in the Salt Lake City office. Kelsey has three-years of legal marketing experience, and ten-years of non-profit and event planning experience. Kelsey has served on the board for the Elyse Pantke White Foundation since 2008. She is also involved with the United Way of Salt Lake Young Leaders and the planning committee for the Utah Humane Society, Wags to Wishes Gala.  Full Bio.

 

Kirstin Maanum

Board Ambassador: 2017 - Present

Kirstin Maanum Kirstin Maanum is the Women’s Education Specialist through the Women’s Enrollment Initiative at the University of Utah.  She is originally from Minnesota and received her BA in Psychology from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Her early professional years were spent working with social justice organizations along the US/Mexico border in El Paso, TX,  Juarez, MX., and Anthony, NM. She earned her Master of Public Health from New Mexico State University in 2009. Full Bio

Jean Oh

Board Ambassador: 2016 - Present

Jean Oh ImageJean Oh is the Director of Main Campus Operations for the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) in S. Korea. The UAC is a University of Utah initiative out of the Office for Global Engagement. Currently there are four University of Utah degree programs being offered at the UAC. Prior to her move to Utah in 2013, she lived and worked for two years at the Incheon Global Campus, where the UAC is located. In her role, she supports various departments and faculty at the University of Utah in applying for and establishing degree and certificate programs at the U Asia Campus. Full Bio

Asha Parekh

Board Ambassador: 2017 - Present

Ahsa ParekhAsha Parekh is the Director of the Refugee Services Office within the Department of Workforce Services.   She oversees and addresses the diverse and complex needs of refugees in Utah.  She earned her Master of Social Work at the University of California in Los Angeles. 

Krista Parry

Board Ambassador: 2017 - Present

Nubia Pena

Board Ambassador: 2017  - Present

Nubia Pena ImageMs. Nubia Peña, received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah S.J.
Quinney College of Law in May 2016. She was selected as one of 25 law students in the nation to be recognized and highlighted for her social justice activism in the National Jurist, a leading news source in legal education. Ms. Peña has actively sought to bring awareness to issues of violence and systemic oppression through her personal andprofessional endeavors. She has over a decade of experience assisting survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and victims of violent crimes as a Law Enforcement

Bailey Scoville

Coming Soon ImageBailey Scoville is a marketing and branding professional from Salt Lake City. She is passionate about helping companies tell their unique stories through traditional marketing mediums and social media. Bailey is a lifelong University of Utah fan, having served as president of the Crimson Line Dance Team (now Utah Dance Team) during her undergraduate studies. She currently serves on the Young Alumni Board and is excited to be a new member of the WRC Board. Bailey holds a B.A. in Spanish and an M.B.A. from the University of Utah.  Full Bio.

Kiska Schramm

Board Ambassador: 2016 - Present

Kiska SchrammKiska grew up loving classical music. In High School her mother remarked, “You are the only person I know of, who blares Beethoven on their car stereo, so I have no doubt as to when you come home.” She began violin lessons at the age of six. Growing up, she participated in summer music camps such as Interlochen and toured Europe several times with groups such as the Rocky Mountain String Camerata and the BYU Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. Deborah Speed

Post Chair: 2017 - Present

Deborah Speed ImageDeborah has served as an Ambassador for the University of Utah Women’s Resource Center Community Advisory Board since January 2016. She was Chair from January 2016 – April 2017, and currently holds the position of Post-Chair. 

Deborah is the Marketing Communications and Public Relations Specialist for Castle & Cooke Mortgage where she drives public relations initiatives, facilitates corporate community involvement and helps to create and distribute internal and external communications. Full Bio

Debra Daniels

Debra Daniels ImageDebra Daniels is the Assistant Vice President for Women’s Enrollment Initiatives and Director of the Women's Resource Center at The University of Utah and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. A native of Ogden, Utah, Debra received her BSW from Utah State University in 1979 and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Utah in 1984. Full Bio

Theresa Martinez

Campus Liaison

Theresa Martinez ImageTheresa Martinez completed her Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of New Mexico and is currently Associate Professor of Sociology and former Assistant Vice President for Academic Outreach at the University of Utah.  Her teaching and research deal with issues of race, class and gender, deviant behavior, juvenile delinquency, and pop culture, and she has produced articles for a variety of publications. William Smith

William Smith ImageWilliam A. Smith is an associate professor in the department of Education, Culture & Society and the Ethnic Studies Program at the University of Utah. He has previously served as the Associate Dean for Diversity, Access, & Equity in the College of Education as well as the Special Assistant to the President & NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative at the University of Utah. Dr. Smith is the co-editor (with Philip Altbach & Kofi Lomotey) of the book, The Racial Crisis in American Higher Education: The Continuing Challenges for the 21st Century (2002). Full Bio
