The Women's Resource Center offers a variety of support groups and workshops that provide a safe place for women to discover and reclaim their true selves.

  • Most of our groups are available to both the campus and off-campus communities
  • All of our groups welcome all people who identify as women
  • They provide a place for women to receive and offer affirmation and support
  • All groups provided on a sliding fee scale

Finding Your Voice: Women of Color Group

small image of WOC flyerAre you a woman of color who is struggling to work in a predominantly White campus or community? As women of color who come from a variety of backgrounds (e.g., African American/Black, Latina/Hispanic, Asian American, Pacific Islander, American Indian, Middle Eastern/Arab American, and others), we have experiences that are unique to our individual backgrounds but also hold many common connections. 

This discussion group can provide a safe place to share some of your struggles as well as some of our ways of coping, strengths, and resources.

Hand to Hand: Women Sharing Wisdom

The focus of this support group is to share the richness and complexity of women's lives.

We live in a world where women's voices are often silenced.  This group offers a place for women to be truly seen and heard and their experiences honored.

Body Politics: Our Bodies, Our Selves, Our Transitions

small image of bp flyerMany, if not most women struggle to even consider the possibilities of a peaceful, loving, healthy relationship with our bodies across the lifespan.  This group is designed for women of all cultures, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, abilities, and sizes to explore the personal, interpersonal, and social issues related to size, standards of beauty, food, fat, body image, and self-acceptance.  If you want to find a more accepting way to live in your body, please join us for a confidential discussion.

LBQQ: Lesbian, Bisexual, Queer, Questioning

small image lbqq flyerThis group offers a safe place for all women of diverse racial/ethnic/ cultural backgrounds to dialogue with other women about their experiences that may include living on the margins and in the closet.

Topics may include relationship beginnings and endings, coming out to self and others, starting families and parenting, social networking, community events, intersecting marginalized identities, creating and participating in healthy Lesbian /bisexual/queer culture.

Sexual Assualt: Surviving and Thriving

small image SA flyerThis support group will be open to those who identify as a woman and are a student currently attending the University of Utah. We welcome women from various sexual orientations and/or racial and ethnic identities. The group will be a space for women, who have experienced sexual assault, to come together to support one another as survivors to live successful and full lives after sexual assault. We will discuss coping strategies and techniques for survivors. The space will focus on students reflecting upon their personal and societal experiences, lessons of gender, and sexual assault while coming together for support and healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What groups do you offer?
    We typically offer 4 groups that meet Monday – Thursday from 5:30 to 7 pm. These include: Women of Color on Monday; Hand to Hand on Tuesdays; Body Politics, Wednesdays; and LBQQ on Thursdays. Check back each semester to see if we've added any groups during that semester only.
  2. How much does it cost to participate in a group?
    We offer a sliding fee option, ranging from$15 to $75 for the semester. No one is turned away for lack of funds.
  3. Are groups available only to U of U students, staff, and faculty?
    No. Most of our groups welcome participants from the wider community.
  4. Do your groups include men?
    No. All of our groups are for women only.
